My crank has movement
unquestioned

Hi, I'm in need of help regarding my crank.
Yesterday on a training cycle I noticed that at the bottom of every rotation on the right pedal there was a loud click noise, no matter what gear or speed, always at the bottom of the roation. Found no movement in the pedals which are new anyway but the crank itself has a couple of mm's of movement.
So what could the problem be & how do I fix it?
Specialist tools?
My bike is a Carrera Titan, £300 jobby, about 14 months old now & done a fair few miles but I need it fixed as I'm taking part on Maggies Bike & Hike in under 3 weeks.

Sounds like a loose crank bolt, try them first (either 14mm socket or 8mm allen key) - do it up (reasonably) as tight as you can. Or it coulc be the BB in which case you need a crank removal tool and a BB socket to rmove (or pay a shop).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Thanks, I'll have a go at tightening it tonight. I don't mind buying the tools I need as I'll need them eventually.
Might just go all out & bang in a new crank if the bearings are done.0 -
If you are replacing the cranks then go external, however it'll be better to get the shop to fit them first time round so they can face the BB shell and to save you the cost of the unnecessary tools for the older cranks.0
