Unless you are still in Aprils Fool mod - you are in the training section of BR so my advice is go to your GP to get checked out & then practice, practice, practice as you would on a bike. What sessions you choose to go with is up to you and your fair lady.

Have you tried pinning a photo of Laura Trott to the headboard?

Well, I would have responded the same a decade ago, I have nothing else wrong with me, ran a half ,marathon last week, the pressure on the perrinium is the problem, ever had numb nuts? what do you think is causing that ?, you a starving your groin of blood and compressing the arteries and nerves and over many years you may damage yourself especially if you are a big heavy rider like me, but ignore me if you wish, I heard rumours and discounted them but now I am screwed and cycling is the prime suspect IMO

So that is the opinion of your GP or the specialist they referred you too?

Personally I have been riding not as long as you (only about 20 years) but know the value of a good saddle & the pressure it can apply to ones equipment.

Are you sure it's a physical condition and not a psychological one?

I don't deny cycling can cause impotence, Ive been riding and noticed numbness. Sure there is long term damaged caused.

Sorry to hear about your problem btw. But if it is a physical problem there are surgical options worth exploring, if the pills arnt helping.

    15 stone, rugby build?

Yes, I am a big powerful build and used cycling to keep my weight down and I loved it, always had a slight uptilt on my saddle, I have no other health problems whatever apart from the depression this is causing the GPs tell me its psychological but a couple have suggested it must be years and years of high intensity cycling, I wish this was a joke, but believe me this is a spirit crushing, soul wrenching condition especially as I thought I was looking after myself

Firstly don't give up on cycling, just get your sit bones measured & a decent saddle, perhaps a cut out one so no pressure. Secondly if its less physical and more mental then you should be pleased in a way as this can be fixed, whereas permeant damage to your tackle can not.

Without wanting to go to far off topic can you not consider the Pele option? It might help you get back in the game.

Did this happen suddenly? Had you not had any indication of problems before?

I am about your age and in good (but not great) shape but fortunately I have not had the problem you have been faced with. I have only been cycling since last November so it's too soon for me to have experienced any problems but sex is hugely important to me and this would not be a price worth paying so your post is somewhat worrying.

I think I should read up on this but do cutaway saddles help with this? It clearly cannot happen to every keen cyclist or there wouldn't be very many of us but I'd like to do what I can to minimise the risks.

It takes years and if you heed this then you should be ok

Seach cycling impotence or cycling ED, there is loads of medical evidence to support this, it is much more recognised than before, I hope I have done you a favour !
