Having tried to follow the route as close as possible ( http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1648001 ) me and my mate aren't too sure about the cycle path the route seems to want to follow from around mile 96 to 118. Can anyone confirm what sort of surface this stretch is? We would be on 23c tyres so don't really want a rough MTB suited dirt track.

  • It's not too bad. We all did it on normal road bikes without any problem. That was about 3years ago

All depends on what type/design of 23mm tyres really, . I did it last year on 23mm tyres Conti 4 Seasons and its okay, but I did have three punctures in two days!! I would imagine that if you opted for a more race type tyre you have some bother?
