Turin Strada Dei Colle

Turin's Strada Dei Colle (route of the six hills) is a classic local training loop in Turin starting from the city center. I started from the 1st century AD Palentine gate and followed the chic via Po down to the river Po. Crossing over the bridge you are almost immediately into wooded hills with some steep Italian climbs. The route climbs 600 vertical meters then traverses across the skyline to the Superga Basilica before a steep descent back to downtown Turin.

I hired a bike from TourinBike http://www.torinoinbici.com/, a hybrid that was heavier compared to my road bike, but I didn't really want to bring a bike with me. The bike was well prepared and in excellent condition. They speak good English and have Cannondale race bikes for hire, which they can fit with SPDs.

Went to Turin a few years ago and there are some lovely rides around there. There's one through a wood with a castle at the top, but I can't think of the name now. Nice ride though. We only stayed for a weekend but did two 100km rides with some nice climbs in, and of course checked out the old velodrome.
