KMC missing link

Hi,

Installed a new KMC chain yesterday, first time I've ever messed about with chains. The missing link that came with the chain seemed very easy to put on and didn't really seem to 'click' into place as such.

Is this normal, or should there be a more definate, positive click into locked position?

Have to say as well that the park tool chain breaker tool I have was really easy to use. Almost though why bother with missing links if chains are that easy to break anyway.

Thanks

They are easy to break, but hard to get back together! Regardless, you can't join every pin as it will weaken it. Shim chain have a special joining pin to push back in, but anyway use a quick link. Regarding your lack of a positive click, don't worry they are designed so under load they become harder to come apart.

because if you snap your chain out on the trail, you can guarantee it will be far from home going dark and probably be raining or just about to start.. also probably be frrezing cold and you have next to no feeling in your fingers..

trying to push a new pin into the chain is way to much effort,,,, when you can just pop a quick/missing link in.. and you dont need a tool to fit one either...

as for the click into position just waggle it and make sure it is in the locked postion,
