OT - Sky+ HD recordings to DVD?

Anyone know if it's easily possible (ie by a semi-techno-literate aunt) to transfer Sky+ recordings from the Sky box to a DVD recorder? Would files be in a proprietary format or would they be .avi files or similar that would then be share-able?
My aunt wants to be able to - for example - set a season of a given show to record, then transfer to a DVD for later viewing. I don't have Sky+, so have no idea.

Simple answer is no. They're encrypted and I'm not sure I've seen a way to get round it yet.
Best bet is to get a DVD recorder and plug your sky box into it with a scart
