Ruptured Quadriceps Tendon

I ruptured my quad tendon at the weekend! Nothing heroic, I slipped on the ice, walking down the road, 200 yds from the front door. Trip to A&E, kept me in overnight and operated the next morning. Nothing but praise for the Italian health service. Back home now with a full-leg cast for the next 4 weeks.

I imagine that recovery will be slow, has anyone got any experience or advice for this recovery?

You'll find plenty of information here.
I did mine a few years ago and used to follow this thread for advice and encouragement. Different circumstances as I managed to slice through the tendon whilst being hit by a car (managed a broken femur as well). No magic to recovery, just get a good physio, be patient and work hard in following the exercise regime to recover leg extension and to build the muscle back up which you will lose.

Best of luck with your recovery!!
