    Fair point. I didn't meant to test the theory. Especially as I tested it before I'd heard about it. I reckon they just wrote it to wind me up.

    It's not slag used by the Navy as a whole, there is a whole other set of words when it comes to 'Jackspeak' (in fact you can buy a book on it!)

    It seems to be more a Bootneck word, although I have heard some Army folks using it and to be honest I have no idea where it came from to start with.

    Very possibly. I was remembering it from that programme a few years ago about trying to find the origins or words and getting them into the Oxford English Dictionary. Naff was one of them and they proposed the N.A.F.F. origin.
