    Not much of a gash, more of a tight hole. Found this, also in a Marathon+

    I did startle a parents of a cadet last night at the unit Christmas party when I shouted to the Marine Cadets 'MCD, sort your gash out!'

    I had to explain it didn't mean anything rude. :lol:

    The other one which I find startles people is when I say I'd like a 'Hot wet' :lol:

    Again it's nothing dirty, just means a hot mug of tea or coffee. ;)

    Most people have got the hang of Hoofin', Pit, Scran, Redders, Gopping and hanging by now though.

    I've heard gopping used to mean particularly ugly or otherwise unpleasant. Wasn't aware it was military slang.

    Yes indeed totty & gash entirely unrelated in a military sense.

    For your general knowledge :
    Hoofin' = brilliant
    Scran = food
    Redders = very hot (ie red in the face)
    Hanging = knackered.
    Gopping = horrible

    Aha: Chad as in Chad Valley: describes a piece of equipment prone to failure, presumably from the brand of children's toys. I'm guessing Uber Chad (surely that should be über chad) is an superlative version of chad.

    AAARGH!!! Got an email from Cyclescheme with a link to various stuff. Clicked on the review of winter tyres and it said this about Marathon+:
    Schwalbe Marathon Plus. It?s virtually impregnable, thanks to a thick layer of springy rubber under the tread. You can literally ride over a line of drawing pins.
    Look at my post on page 1. That's quite clearly a drawing pin. You may be able to ride over a line of drawing pins, they won't stop a visit from the pf though.
