Just seen this (sorry if it's been posted elsewhere):

Doesn't sound good. I'm sure we'd all send our good wishes to him and his family.

How can someone have such sh*t luck!

That is aweful, history repeating itself, not sure of the circumstances, bit hope the driver gets banged up and dealt with properly.

I'm not normally a "hanging's too good for them" person, but when I think of some of the sentences that have been handed out for dangerous driving in the past and then compare them to the sentences recently dealt to those who rioted or were thinking about rioting, it doesn't seem fair.

I work in the MOJ, i've seen (found guilty) Kiddy Fidlers walk with community punishments and fines, our legal system is pathetic, it really is.

It is a terrible set of circumstances.

I've been away from England for a few years now and I guess I'm starting to forget how dangerous it was. I used to commute into Birmingham and got sideswiped by vehicles on two separate occassions. Quite often the commute would be full of colourful exchanges with car/bus drivers what the passing of time seems to have diminished is how dangerous it was at times.

I wish Simon a speedy recovery

Terrible situtation and I really hope he recovers well, he's clearly made of stern stuff.
I hope they throw the book at the van driver.

Well, at least they've found the van driver, so it's a start.

    He's a paralympic athlete?

He won gold in Bejing for his discipline?

Even if he doesn't earn all his money from cycling he might as well for the purpose of the forum and the impact he has on cycling.

    +1 to that Rick

He's shown as much dedication as any trade sponsored cyclist. The fact that he's a Paralympian means he's sponsored, just not by a trade team. I'm sure if you asked any of the track team from BC whether he was one of them, they'd all say yes and judging by the response on Twitter from people like Magnus Backstedt then Simon Richardson is a pro. I hope Backstedts opinion is good enough for Crankbrother.

Are you real? So you don't want to know of anything not related to active pro riders?

Would that include any news not related to an actual ongoing race?

    Fool.

I briefly felt like vomiting when I read leicesterlad;s comments. He must be psychologically troubled to take such a swipe at disabled people. If I heard this person say that I'd struggle not to break his jaw

Wasn't taking a swipe at the victim, just saying that a pro race forum is not somewhere for the 'hanging's too good' brigade to get on their soapbox ... It helps neither the victim or the situation in general ...

But then we have your comment threatening violence (from behind your keyboard) ...

Dave_1, it was Crankbrother who wrote the comment which has caused so much offence. It's in the inner box.

LeicesterLad responded with the comment underneath. His comment is beside the emoticon.

    Please don't break his jaw.
