    Only prob is that carbon will break if I prang it where as Alu just dents... Also the photos are '09 and it is now '11. Plenty of wear on it in 2 years i bet...

    both aluminium and carbon can break if pranged. Carbon is not as fragile as many people think!

    A deathmetal moth is bloody brilliant...though I don't agree.

    Even considering volunteering in the manchester museum next (academic) year so I can learn to set, catch and properly identify moths.

    Back to bikes, my car ran out of MOT today so tomorrow may well deplete my car fund VERY significantly (wince)...

    Almost not interested in driving any more but really could do with a car for work next year. I can do without one but limits jobs I can accept (and cliam extra petrol for) if I am carless. Worst thing is that I only drive a little ford fiesta 1.25 zetec and even that (tax, petrol, insurance, repairs etc) is too spicy to run on a student/just graduated budget!!

    Easier to ride a frame home with a dent in than one that has completely snapped. Wouldn't ever knowingly ride a ruined bike but worst case scenario at least an alu can be limped home after a big off (i think) where as carbon I believe is shot after one crash.

    It depends how bad the dent is and how far home is. To be honest it's only ever going to be ridden once like that and I'd not let it be a deciding factor in bike choice.

    Hey Fred ...in case you have the tick problem again all you have to do is to put some mozzie repellant on it , wait 5 mins then use tweezers to pull it off.The tick I mean.....

    The repellant makes the tick let go otherwise you could remove the body but not the nasty biting bit. Ordinary cattle tick?

    Please stay away from leeches.....

    Never come across any leeches (apart from impending car costs)...

    As for pulling it off woth tweezers that's exactly what we did...with the tick. Amazing how hard the little barstewards cling on. Not at all painful, just deeply worrying.

    Cube attempt is [a]tempting, the CRC link is snotty and crc is refusing to load in any permutation at uni.

    What model is the one from CRC you suggested?

    Furthermore is it worth saving and gettign a "low end" CAAD 10?

    All of this fantasising may be indone next week when the dreaded MOTing of the car hits (wince)...
