Help needed choosing bottom bracket for Specialized hardrock

Hi, can anyone help I have a Specialized hardrock sport 8speed. The bb I have has splines each end of the spindle (I don't know what model it is). Ideally would like to upgrade but don't want to have to change my gear setup, does anyone have any recommendations I was thinking shimano deore 2 piece external bb but have a feeling they only come in 9spd arrangement. Thanks for any help!

The bottom bracket must be the same as you have, ao have to identify the type and diemensions.
If you want a different system, then you need a new crankset to go with it.
The Deore HT2 external BB system comes with the bottom bracket. 9 speed cranks are fine on your system0 -
I have fitted the Deore crankset & bottom bracket to my Hardrock. Didnt need to face the frame, it was dead accurate once I removed the paint.
9 speed is fine, my hardrock only has the 7 speed cassette, it shifts much better with the Deore set & the bottom bracket has lasted much longer than the original ones did.
Looks a lot nicer than the original crankset.
