mate - your argument has just gone full circle, to the point where you are now in serious danger of arguing with yourself. I think the sooner you disappear up your own arsehole, the better...

I see you're still whining. What 'case' would that be - the one where you defend my right to free speech..? Thanks for the defence fella - if I ever fancy speaking freely again, I'll be sure to give you a call first.....

Come on guys, all this arguing is terribly disrespectful to all the people who've died today anywhere in the world.

Anyone else know him at all? What type of events did he do? From the papers I didn't fully understand if he mainly lived in Cheltenham or London. Sounds like he often rode in Wales when he went home.

When I lived in Fulham last summer I cycled along the Embankment right past his flat. Wonder if I ever saw him along there, it was always busy with cyclists.

softlad, as the saying goes - the devil's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist......just because you think it's rediculous that there could be a link doesn't mean there isn't one. People can believe what they want to.

I'm still confused as to why this has hit the media, normally when people in "sensative" roles die in unexpected ways theres normally a quick cover up. The fact that this level of info has come out suggests that we're being fed info for some reason

BTW, I'm not prone to it but t's no disrespect to talk about theories re: Welch TTers called Gareth. Who is that disrespecting? Was it disrespectful to talk about the grassy knowl and JFK? Is it disrespectful to say that 'Help for Heros' is a misnomer b/c how are people getting paid to do a job heros, any more than Joe the plumber or trapped Chilean miners? Grow up.

If I can understand what you've written - its just a pathetic comment. Not clever, grow up.

...yes, clearly because they WANT us to think Al-Qaeda are targeting welsh cyclists called Gareth. The reality is clearly that their deaths were an inside job, a "false-flag" operation which will then be used to justy the fluoridation of the water supply and divert our attention away from those pesky chemtrails.

Will we ever know the truth about what happened to this poor chap? Possibly not. Is it related to some shady shenanigansinvolving his employer? Possibly. Is it related to the tragic death of Gareth Rhys-Evans? No. The conspiacy theories created and encouraged by keyboard warriors currently jacking off on a daily basis to the contents of wikileaks prove nothing but their own inability to think clearly.

Who ever he was spy, mundane office worker, cyclist, fit young man with much of his life in front of him, he's now dead. I hope his family and close friends find out, as far as is possible, what happened to him. A frightfully awful end to ones's life no doubt in very distressing circumstances.

    RIP.

+1. With freedom of speech comes responsibility. His death and various rumours re his lifestyle must be horrendous for the family.

Just a comment, whichever user or browser who sent me this message, it is clearly innapropriate (and wrong, I didn't write that).

    HI,

Saw your post on the bike forum about murdered mI6 worker Gareth Williams. How do you know him? And what was he like as a person you mentioned he was a bit 'different' but in what way? I'm a journo doing a piece on the shocking murder and trying to speak to as many people who knew him as i can.

If you could drop me a line I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks

Well thats sort of what he's trying to do. He's got balls thats for sure.

In the Echo (local Cheltenham paper) they had a bit about cyclists paying tribute, and mentioned something about "online tributes" could be here....although I imagine most of the other cycling forums have similar topics covering this.

Maybe you're being tapped by the security services? They are on to you  ? Maybe you had better lay low for a few weeks. Cycle a different route to and from work or go and stay with a distant relative ............

if the journo's powers of research do not stretch to identifying that it was splottboy not nolf who mentioned he knew the dead guy then it doesn't bode well for his article.

but it does give you a clearer idea of a typical tabloid journalist's attention to detail...

+1. They're well tuned into this type of tapping up over on the ARSSE forums - happens all the time.
  • Bizarre thread this, it would be almost amusing, this tosh being suggested about a conspiracy, except it's tragic that someone has been killed. The petty bickering leaves an unpleasant taste as well.

In all fairness no one has actually tried to make a conspiracy theory here. Sirius631 made a comment about their similarities and (as far as i can see) asked about conspiracies as a joke and then some of the others on this thread have blown things totally out of proportion as if Sirius was really trying to put up a full on theory. Just your standard over-reaction.

All I did was argue that if people want to believe such things then they should be allowed to and commented on how its odd that this particular case has so much attention.

I never suggested there was, nor do I believe there is a conspiracy theory about these murders.

I think they both deserve a little more respect than that....

Prey tell, how can pointing out odd similariities be considered as being disrespectful? I call what the red tops have been coming up with disrespectful.

This is possibly the most retarded thing I've ever read on the internet.

You're obviously not into reading much. I was just pointing out the weird coinsidence, not actually saying there is a conspiracy. Don't you ever state the opposite of what could conceiveable be the truth with an ironic tone of voice to emphasize your disbelief? Yeah, right!

Thanks, Ollieda. It's good to see someone exhibiting more than double digit IQ around here. I used to think that is was only the Americans that couldn't handle irony, but but obviously it's not something that should be used on Bikeradar either.

I don't think I'll bother with page two of the comments.

    Sirius,

I'm not really sure what you mean here. What you originally wrote does seem to be implying that you think there may be some kind of conspiracy worth talking about.

However, I don't subscribe to the idea that you were being disrespectful. This is an internet forum which invites people to comment on whatever they like. There are way more offensive things elsewhere even on this very forum. Say whatever you like as far as I'm concerned.

in all honesty - if it really needs explaining, then you probably wouldn't understand anyway. But, as has already been pointed out - you are perfectly entitled to say whatever you like - so if you want to sound like an insensitive blundering oaf (in my opinion, obviously), then crack on fella....

Apologies for the bickering by the way, but I felt I had a point which needed to be made.

The problem is that irony to work has to be a lot more subtle and smarter than this.

Read an article in the Guardian about Gareth today. Apparently there's been suggestions in the tabloids about male escorts and bondage gear, the family are understandable devastated and claiming smear.

All sounds very suspicious and I'm pretty sure we will never know the truth. Must be very sad for the family.

    RIP

The Met have said that nothing of that sort was found there. So somebody made it up - for kicks ?

    An awful tragedy.
