Ok, well, that's out of the way, now...
Managed it in 1:05:05... Absolutely gutted about going over the 5 mins, by so little!
I got 1st in the handicap :D .... Medal, Medal, Medal!...
04:59 inside my Vet standard, too...

Sorry there's no humorous, but detailed write up... I'm too knackered!

Well and truelly hooked on them, now

I had one in my bottle, but didn't use it...
I don't think I could have used it!

Ah, there is a knack of using it whilst at race pace. I normally take a swig going up a hill.

You will just have to do another one now to get under 1:05 ;)

5 minutes is a lot to peg back in a 25. However, the first one is always a toughie as you won't know how to pace it. I did 1:03 on my first one, 1:01 on the second one and am having another crack at it this weekend. Same course as the last one I did - so I'll have a better idea where to push the pace and get that extra minute off the time!

I went off at *just* under 10 pace for my first one. Based on the assumption that I hadn't got my 10 nailed and so I needed to empty the tank. Work ok until I crashed...Still, 56:37 isn't bad considering nearly 1:30ish off the bike! Awesome going fast for so long, keen to do a proper fast course.

My first 25 was 1:02 on my road bike with clip ons, by the end of last year I had done a 55:22, admittedly on a fast course, and on a TT bike, this year I have lowered that so far to a 51:45.

5 mins is hard to find, but it achievable. Just push yourself harder each time, if you are fit enough you are unlikely to blow.

Didn't get below a 1.03 in 6 years of trying (probably 4 or 5 25s a year) so well done. I can't hold the concentration on time trials and find myself singing songs in my head while my speed steadily drops

I think he was referring to going over 1.05 by so little - i.e. 5 seconds, not going over the hour by 5mins.

    I was Dug.
But, I do intend to get under 1:00 by the end of the year!
    Or, I'll die trying!

Find a fast event and I'm sure you can knock 5 mins off your time.

Next goal is to go under 24 mins on my home course (rolling so most people don't do under 24). 24:12 last time out - but that's a drop of over a minute and a half since the beginning of the year. Hope to nail it this week!
