Hi,
My Boardman carbon frame cracked and the insurance paid out for the first time in my life! Sweet.
I know that the Boardman is an entry level in terms of carbon but it was for me, an enjoyable ride.
It's time to to upgrade and I'm considering racing and am an aspiring randonneur
Tthe cervelo S2 would be my choice because I like its looks and have had a quick spin on one. I can't stretch to the budget this time and I have lost the ability to be objective because I have convinced myself the S2 is all there is
I'll transfer the SRAM rival and some of the ritchey bits from the boardman.
I'd be really grateful for suggestions.
Cheers

I've got a Cinelli Willin frame from 08. Think the new 10 SL models in white and black look the biz. They're about the £1000 mark for frame, forks and finishing kit. Was in the top 6 in last years bike of the year competition on Bike Radar. Crackin ride.0

Aspiring randonneur? Van Nicolas Yukon or Sabbath Sunday, perhaps a Planet X Sportive.
Fatbirds don't fly have the first two for 899 including fork so under budget, allowing for other bits and bobs.
if you want to race though you'll probably want something racier.0 -
@Kingtut87 cinelli looks nice, will see if I can test one of those thanks!
@alan sherman Van Nicholas looks lovely, thanks!0 -
Kuota Kharma or Kebel. One would come in a bit under budget, the other a bit over.
I have a Kharma and race on it, but also used it for a 4 and 1/2 day LEJOG last year (300km per day) so its perfectly comfortable for long days.More problems but still living....0 -
How about the special prices on the Canyon site?0

Argon 18 Krypton? Look nice, get good reviews and Argon 18's are well built.
I want one......“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -

Hope that's ok?“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
For your £1,000 budget you could get a Cervelo S1 (and probably get it for a bit less if you look around) - same as an S2 in design just alumniium instead of carbon ... the S1 is supposed to be very good too.
You could also look at a Kinesis KR810 - which are supposed to be good too and again there are deals if you look for them.
Hope that helps.

Really appreciate the response, thanks.
Heres what I'm down to.
Canyon CF SLX (fav, shame theres none left in the sale )
Kuota kebel (slightly severe angles and paint job, but still up there)
Eddy Merckx EMX-1 (bit over budget but like it alot)
Someone had a bit of a problem fitting SRAM to the Canyon which is a bit scary.

Also whats the diff between the CF and the CF SLX and EVO and not EVO. Bloody confusing,
@ScottieP Considered the cervelo S1 but I think the above are more for me.

CF and CF SLX...Same frame, the Forks are 30g lighter.

The Kinesis KR810 mentioned above is a good shout. Very comfortable and well made frame for c.£800.
Not the lightest but as good quality as anything I've seen.0 -

except all the sizing specs are changing for 2011....
I was about to push the button on a 2011 Gallium Pro until I discovered that the 2010 sizing chart I had been using bears no resemblance to the 2011 frames....0 -
With the awful exchange rates and pretty high shipping costs I have plunged for a canyon ultimate CF.
The new frames are gonna be expensive for 2011 I guess so I reckon I still got a bargain.
Will upload some pics when built.
Thanks for all the help.
