In a week's time I set off on trip which covers 500 miles in 6 days. I have been doing plenty (ish) of training and all my kit is prepared, but can anyone offer advice on what I should be doing in terms of diet and exercise in the week before the event?

Many thanks.

You should be cutting back on your training now allowing muscles to rest and recover. You can lways check your kit again. I lay out all the stuff I'm going to take, halve it and then take what I need from the remainder.
    Enjoy your trip

Do very little mileage. Gather your strength. You could try a short fully-laden excursion, just to test that everything fits properly.

Take the wolf's advice about leaving half of it behind, too.

As for diet, start eating carbohydrate-rich foods to acclimatise, as that is what is going to be the best diet when you are on the road. Also, get used to drinking a lot of water; it is a good habit anyway, but the difference between a good day and a cr@p one, if you get it wrong on the road.

Enjoy the trip, you lucky person!
