Hello, My rear hub keeps working loose, I have bought some Cone spanners and tightend everything up but it came loose again, Re-tighten and it works loose again!
my question is how tight to tighten? and what would cause it to work loose?
All help appreciated

What hub is it?
Are the bearings and races in good condition? Axle not bent?
And do you have the correct technique? (lock the locknut against the cone, with two spanners)

Have a look at Shimano's tech document first:

As stated previously, you tighten the locknut again the cone using 2 cone spanners. You never tighten the locknuts at either ends of the axle into each other.
So it's based on 'feel'. You sort of overtighten the cone by hand (not with spanner) and tighten the locknut against the cone, again by hand. If you turn the axle at this point it'll feel rough. Then, with a bit of practise, if you tighten the cone and locknut into each other, you'll get just the right pressure on the bearings. You shouldn't feel any roughness when turning the axle now, just some smooth resistance from the seals.0 -
Thanks for the Info & tips, I think I know where I was going wrong now
