Still not spent my CR vouchers yet , looking for some new shoes, got £60 to spend but did not really want to spend it all on shoes, my pedals are V8 copies.
Now all the shoes ive seen that CR actually have in stock are mostly spd compatible,
Would it right to say that spd compat' will offer less grip on a flat padal due to design than a conventional shoe/trainer
was thinkin of these

or these for a normal flat sole

or blow the budget on these

IME spd compatible pedals are crap on flats.
Everyone i know who uses 510s absolutely swears by them, fantastic grip apparently. They just look a bit "Special"0 -
had a feeling that would be the case, my old pair of gola's are looking a bit dead now, still comfy and really grip well on the pedals, bit reluctant to spend to much on a pair of flat trainers that will get ditched, still wanted to spend the vouchers though , not my own money0

Add some mid-length seal-skinz socks ( CR should sell) to those cheepy trainers and you've got a great and relatively cheap warm and waterproof package ! .....exactly the route I've gone down, works a treat and dryer feet than expensive gore-tex trainers as the water just goes over the top !0
