Anyone watch it? Impressed/unimpressed? I thought Haye was very controlled and disciplined, stuck to what he needed to do to win, can be a little unexciting but Haye has fast hands, plenty of power and IMO makes a good British champ from the point of view that he comes across very well in interview as well as as a fighter.

Not sure he'll take out a Klitscho (spelling?) ...but if he does soon then he's gonna make for a very celebrated champion, more so maybe than Lewis who never really had the buzz with the UK public that he may have deserved.

Didnt mean I think Haye is unexciting either there, not at all, pretty much the opposite ...just in this fight, these kind of tactics (exactly what was needed) are never going to make for much good viewing.

I watched it with a couple of mates. We were all rather suprised by the lack of action. Haye didn't want to go anywhere near Valuev. Which we sort of expected. But he was winnning rounds with only 3 or 4 punches landing? What's all that about. It wasn't a fight. It was more like amutuer bout? Scoring points for punches landed in the target area.

Valuev looked rather laboured. Old and past it.

I was listening to the Radio (five live) this morning, before hitting the road and getting rather wet, and the fight was being discussed. It was rightly pointed out that Valuev hasn't really fought anyone decent despite being champ and only being defeated once (now twice).

We'll just have to wait and see if Haye can cut the mustard with the big boys!

Watched it in a bar in Kiev, Valuev is a big beggar though, looks like he should be an avatar in a computer game and not a bloke.

Watched the first 5 rounds before my feed died. Why doesn't Cyclingfans do boxing feeds as well?!

From what I saw, Haye used the only tactics that are possible when you're fighting someone that size - ie, stay at a distance, don't get too close, and come in once or twice per round for a few well-targetted shots. After my pictures went, I listened to the rest on 5 Live and it sounded like it was only in round 12 that an actual fight broke out.

So yeah, it was boring, but it was the only way to win.
