Nothing wrong with Columbias kit...at least the older 2008 blue one.
I was given two full kits, plus another top signed by the whole team as a prize, along with 4 days in Paris for the TdF and a Giant TCR carbon bike.
Gonna put the signed one in a case on the wall.

I've worn the full Columbia kit/bike but only around the deserted lanes of the Llyn Peninsular!
Felt that no one here would know who Cav was...

I wish you lived where your username suggests. Then I could pop round and burgle you.

Its not like football is it? Where you get lynched for having the wrong kit on?

Go retro, La Vie Claire or System U are good, Panasonic is boring but ok...no way Hitachi or Superconfex

my name is Ed and it's less than 24 hours since I wore team kit :-)

I had a z team top when I was about 10, and I wore it incessantly until I grew out of it

then for my birthday this year my mum got me a replica one from prendas... at first I was a bit appprehensive thinking, this is a bit conspicuous but after the second trip it was a firm favourite, it now gets worn with black tights and black baselayer at the moment

I couldn't wear a KoM or the world champ bands tho, that's a bit fake to me, after all Man united fans don't wear replica medals after they won the Champions League

Retro's definitely the way to go - I've got loads of them (I kind of collect them), mostly off eBay - La Vie Claire, Z, Once, Panasonic, Fagor (pretty bad), Carrera, PDM, Kas, Ullrich's Bianchi, Molteni, Peugeot, Castorama (horrible), Banesto, Chateau d'Ax, 7-Eleven.

My favourite is a black Once jersey - cool as anything.

Z and Chateau d'Ax are the next best.

Systeme U is No.1 on the wanted list (because of Mottet rather than Fignon)[/img]

seems to me everyone has way too much money. basically i just go on ribble or crc or gb cycles and buy whatever's cheapest, whether that's bianchi socks, or plain black shorts, or a banesto long sleeved jersey or whatever (as long as it's not truly hideous).

I have many other things to spend my money on and people look like berks in lycra regardess.

eBay, my friend. That Once jersey up there cost be about £8. I've picked up team jerseys for as little as £3 (Fagor, I think)

I even bought my bike on eBay - a Giant TCR Carbon in mint condition for £700.

    (PS - I don't work for eBay)

I'm sure it was said before in a similar thread that white shorts look silly on legs which aren't tanned and shaved! What are people's opinion/experiences?

What about white shorts on tattooed legs :D
    It is my team kit!!

For tattoos like that only a long sleeve jersey and winter leggings will do.
(I'm not a fan of tattoos - they're for pirates and pornstars)

Nothing wrong with wearing full team kit.Whatever floats your boat.
When riding abroad,I tend to wear my Jeremy Hunt Banesto National Champs jersey,(& yes,I do have the shorts to match!),or ,from Primal, the Iron Maiden 'ride, don't walk' top, which remindes me of going to see them at Wakefield unity hall,in the VERY late 70's/early 80's,& has prominent Union Jacks on the sleeves.
These tops actually do get the locals to come & talk to you.
When out over here, conversley,I tend to wear tops I've bought on my travels,eg Ventoux,Alpe d'huez,Oh,& I do have matching 'Moser sport by Simoni' top & shorts
If it makes you happy (& it's legal) get on with it!
    so many cols,so little time!
  • i think it should be ok to wear what ever pro tour kit you want, however i wouldnt wear a winners jersey as if i won it i wouldn't want anyone else to be able to wear it, the only thing i am against is wearing say for instance candi tv or rapha team kit as it is entrily possible you could actually ride for them but them look like a muppet when an average guy flies past you up a hill, wearing full kit shorts jerset mitts sock on the correct bike is a bit anal though, feel you should make sure it is obvious you dont actually ride for that team

I dont get this attitude from some cyclists at all ,most joe bloggs cyclists that i ride with and pass are out enjoying their bike wearing what they want to wear . So what if they are wearing Rapha kit and climbing like a dumper truck and looking like a muppet who cares about such things ? Why feel the need to get people to conform to what you think is acceptable ?

People want to feel better than others so 'invent' rules to make them feel superior, then look down on the people who don't fit in. Do what you want. If someone looks down on you because of the top or socks you're wearing it speaks volumes about that person. That they're a tosser.

Makes sense to me. It's probably good quality kit and he probably picked it up cheap, which is a winning combination in my book.
