Depends what brand you buy you can get reduced salt / sugar bran flakes. That said, i don't know how Kelloggs get away with the amounts they shove in theirs.0 -

At the moment, i'm fluctuating between Weetabix, Frosties, Kellogs Oats and Honey, and Mini Weetabix with Honey and Nut.
In answer to your question, none. I don't like either of themIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

+1, although lately I've been having Tesco Finest Fruit and Nut Muesli. More or less the same thing though.
Failing that, bacon and egg butty :P0 -
Forgot to mention I put together my own muesli too, it's cheap and I get exactly what i want in it.0

Bran flakes and muesli with Muller Rice. I don't like the way Shredded Wheat falls to bits in the milk.0

Is that just oats and dried fruit? Sounds like a good idea.0 -
yeh you can buy a 'muesli base' too from places like Holland and Barrett but a decent health food shop should sort you out, it's a shop around for best prices job on the big bags of the stuff.
After that pick your own dried fruits / nuts and either roughly chop the fruit up and mix in a big bowl and pour into one of those Tupperware breakfast containers. I put dried banana, date, mango, raisins, sultanas, the odd pine nut and some pumpkin seeds in usually but whatever you fancy. But again it's a case of shopping around for the dried stuff as places like H&B charge a premium price. Inner city markets is where I head for both and I buy in bulk. It's no great faff once you've sourced the stuff at a reasonable price, and does work out cheaper if you're shrewd but can work the other way if not. The beauty is...
No salt , no sugar apart from the sweetness of the dried fruit (which is more than enough). And you get exactly what you want in it. Tasting Alpen after is like eating a mars bar and you realise how much salt and sugar manufacturers do put in cereal, even though things are changing now. I can't eat Alpen these days it's too sweet.0 -
weetabixI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0

As someone who's having to cut as much wheat out as possible, I tend to alternate at the moment each day
Oatibix bites & the bites with sultana & apple pieces. Thinking of trying the cranberry one too when I finish one of these boxes. I like the texture of these, tried the flakes &they were rank.Start Weight 18st 13lbs March 2009
