I have decided I want to sell all of my bikes and buy one of these:

One bike does it all - how sexy are they too?
Can't justify 4 bikes - when one would do!
What dya reckon!

To afford that.. ALL OF THEM0 -
didn't read what you put properly!!
definately rather the spicy though..... that carbon derailleur protector is soooooo sexy!0 -
I need a change Ben - fancy something different.....
My Marins are MINT, top drawer kit on both, just that the classifieds/sales are very slow with the credit crunch and all that...
The Marin IFT is easily worth £1500-£1600 due to the fact that it has full XTR on it alone, Fox forx, Magura Marta SLs etc etc but people would rather buy a new bike with warranty etc (which I understand of course) - to sell it for anything less would be a crime.
The same with the Quake, mint condition, full saint kit, totems, V2s etc - would need to sell that for the same, so even with selling both bikes, I would be lucky to get 3k - madness isn't it!!!0 -
Mmmmmm Lapierre's *drools a bit*
I do like the X-Control, I would definitely be sessioning all their high end kit if I won the lottery, before buying all of themIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Blender Cube AMS Pro0 -
Cheesey
Fair enough!! So you're after the "do it all bike" then?!
will definitely have the budget after selling up!0 -
The X control sus got slated by some of the WMB test team - hindered the ride and horrific feedback into the pedals were the comments.0
-
What about waiting for the 2010 bikes to be released?!
Spesh enduro is usually a pretty good "do it all" bike contender!0 -
His GT force was ;-)0

That's a shocker paul, I would obviously arrange a demo on any bike costing that much....
Ben - yes, to be honest one 'do it all' bike would do me fine....
My old retro Kona, will be kept for hack duties but the rest can go (I'll shed a teardrop or too!!) but another bike I REALLY fancy is this:

You know I love a Marin, I sat on one of these the other week - GORGEOUS!!!! :shock:0 -

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with H....
That marin is awesome
Not sure why, but marin are one bike manu. that I always forget about!0 -
Lovely isn't it....... the green is lovely in the flesh, the H'schmidt is one cool little piece of kit - didn't get to try the bike out, saw it in the store (a la Wayne's World)
"It shall be mine, oh yes it shall be mine" lol
Guy was well pissed off when I didn't want to buy it
And it's a LOT of money!
Marin seem to be getting pricier and pricer...
Mind you, my Quake was over £3k back in '07  The nearest incarnation is this (not much difference TBH apart from the rear end spacing and crap brakes

Have to say the X Control looks very racy, rather than do it all! Sus is obvioulsy developed to have minimal bobbing.0
-
BUT, if that is what you are after, and you like Idrive then this is great value!

Carbon too!0 -
Probably right matey, the spicy probably a better bet
But that Marin on the other hand.....0 -

Carbon too!
That's one sexy bike too!!!! 8)0 -
Look at the price and spec too!0
-
Isn't that one of the rigs Hans Rey is currently using?
Corgeous frame - fluid-like isn't it?0 -
I think so, he uses a Force and Zaskar as well.0

Stunning!

It does look like a great bike, excellent quality kit, and pretty damn light too at 24lbs. It's not for me though. At the moment, I only have eyes for the Cube Fritzz.
If you dont have the ready cash for it, could you get finance on the Lapierre? Not something I would normally suggest, but it would give you a bit more freedom to hold out a bit longer to get the best price for your other bikes.0 -

had thought about it, but you know what would happen then.. I would end up keeping the others... my house is starting to look like a bike store (I keep em all indoors in the spare room)

there is alot to be said for owning one bike but which one is always the trouble.
if you want something to do all of the riding you do its gonna be dificult as one is a lightweight race hardtail, t'other is almost a freeride bike.
for most folk most of the time i reckon something 5 inch is all that is needed. there's some nice 5 inch bikes about too...........................0 -
Yep, I agree, around 5 inch of travel with a fairly strong build is a good middle of the road bet.0
-
i dont know what bike i would own if i was only going to have one mtb, would probs be my stumpy but if i sold all of my bikes for what theyre worth, i could afford something like a mojo which would suit me down to the ground i reckon
stumpy = 1300ish
older stumpy= 700ish
enduro= 1400ish
allez= 400 ish
mojo in xt and float flavour = 3800, bargain!!
and i would still have the focus too.0 -
I'd just have my Zaskar Carbon ;-)
Or a Scott Genius LTD.0 -
Out last night around the peak on my Felt virtue 2 which I havn't ridden since building up the S works enduro and found it boring in comparrison so it may have to go.
That Mojo HD Carbon might be the next project.... looks the bizI'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

Or you could buy a full-on DH bike, then just MTFU for the flats and uphills!
Seriously, something 5-inchy, with VPP or pro-pedal, or lockout or something.... And adjustable forks, like the TALAS... Could be a pretty good, safe bet for a do-it-all bike!
