  • Natural energy powder drink. As it says in the blurb ' Light on the stomach and practically tasteless'. And I don't feel like I'm supping kids party drinks.

But if they did a dandelion and burdock..........

The grapefruit is really refreshing. The flavour is light and not over sweet.

    ta.

anyone run the 'natural' powder and then just add their own cordial/juice?

that would give more flexibility I guess.

Torq natural is nothing but 100% Maltodextrin, which is good, however it's an incredibly epensive way to buy it, you can get it for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

    ah...

okay, so the 'Energy' isn't just 'Natural' plus some flavour (cordial/juice) but also some other stuff, like electrolytes and magic dust?

I'll do a search and see if I can find some cunning recipes,.,,,

Hopefully they are nicer than the recovery drink. I have the Strawberries & Cream flavour, and it's minging. I still have about 2KG of it to get through. :(

I used to use Torq natural and then chuck in a flavoured Nuun tablet for the electrolytes.

Now I but maltodextrin from another source and chuck in the Nuun tablet as it works out a lot cheaper. I tried using other electrolyte tablets but they ruined the flavour so I stick to the Nuuns for now

    Torq Orange has this:

INGREDIENTS: Maltodextrin, Fructose, Citric Acid, Natural Orange Flavour (3%), Electrolytes (Sodium Chloride, Calcium Lactate, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Carbonate).

Which means they add Fructose (to make it sweet, although there's also research that suggests it's a good thing to have some low GI to go with the high GI Malto) some orange flavouring, and electrolytes.

I've done some Torq recipes at Recipe

    so...

    simple recipe #1:
    - maltodextrin
    - one flavoured Nuun tablet (per 500g of water) for the electrolytes

    simple recipe #2:
    - some maltodextrin and some fructose (2:1 ratio)
    - one flavoured Nuun tablet (per 500g of water)

    how does that sound?

    Am I missing something....?

I get my Nuun tablets from Up and Running in town or the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

I think I found them after looking at stockists on their website after seeing them recommended on here ages ago. http://www.nuun.co.uk

Looking on the ingredients list for Nuun it contains sodium benzoate - a preservative I try to avoid eg see wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_benzoate
    It also contains acesulfame potassium:

    and sorbitol:
