Which bike for the Transalp Challenge?

Howdy,
I am going to be riding the Transalp Challenge next year and was wondering if anyone who has ridden it previously could suggest whether to go on a Hardtail or a light XC full susser (an Epic or a Top Fuel)? Any other tips would be appreciated.

Rode the 2006 on a 2004 Spesh Enduro Pro.
Full XT nothing special.
Very nice.
Ride what you normally ride, just mak esure it's well maintained. By the time you get to Germany you'll have a very good idea of Whats right for you.0
