    - Recording of a TdF/Vuelta/Giro mountain stage playing on the telly
    - 10cm riser block under the front wheel support for that realistic gradient (also helps when standing)
    - wind the resistance up high (I use a Tacx Satori trainer)
    - and climb away...

I alternate between sitting and standing, say 5 mins of each for an hour, increasing the resistance by 2 clicks when out of the saddle.

Works for me but then I like climbing - and hate turbo work.

What hill? Are you training for a mountain pass in the Etape du Tour or to crest a short, steep rise outside Rochdale?

No specific type hill, I've got enough around where we live. Just don't have time to get out to them, (leave for work in the dark-arrive home in the dark).
I'm wondering if other people have methods for training for hills on their turbos.

steveNCP idea will do, but don't forget the importance of sustained efforts in climbing looooong Alp type climbs. highish level of effort without rest for a long time 1-2 hours.
2 x 20 might be good idea too, at lower cadences higher loads?

If you pm me your e-mail address I've got a number of hill-type turbo sessions on a pdf.

I'm sure they're on my pc at home
