London rides/hire

Hi:
My wife is going to a conference in London June 13 to 20 and I was thinking of tagging along.
I have two questions.
1) Are there any shops that hire decent road bikes and are there any decent rides (even out of the city) to do?
2) Is it possible to take a train to Belguim, rent a bike and ride a berg or a cobbled section from one of the Classics.

not sure about bike hire but the Eurostar will take you from London to Lille in a couple of hours.
The climbs of Flanders are about 45mins by car away or the pave of Paris Roubaix will be within riding distance as Roubaix is a grubby suburb of Lille.
That said, I'm not sure a bike hire place will thank you for taking their bikes over 'The Hell of The North'!0 -
Especially since I weigh 230 pounds (110 kilos)0

I didn’t know there was a BB in 2007?
But it takes effort to dig up this stuff. I’m still confused.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0 -

No effort for first and last page but what about the obscure threads in between?sungod said:

in ye old days the mods used to moan about thread revival, which added to the fun, these days i suspect no one even looksmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
In the link, just write a random 3 letter number instead of 589 and away you go.seanoconn said:
