formula oro k24 disc size...advice please

Now then folks, I have an oppurtunity to get a very good deal on some k24 oro's but was wondering about disc size. My current setup is Hayes Sole 205mm front and 185mm rear, with the Formula ones i was looking at a more 180mm front and rear setup. Now here is the question: The pair for sale are 160mm F&R....is this adequate enough for my type of riding (aggresive cross country/mountain in lake district) on a full suss or should i go 180mm front 160mm rear or stick to my original plan of 180mm f&r?????????.

i would go 160 at both ends. they will exceed the soles in performance at that size. i know i have some. i also have them at 203mm F&r on a freeride like bike and a mate runs them 203 on his DH bike.

if after some time you think you need more i would only get a new disc and adaptor for the front.

thanks for that, just so i know how can i tell the difference between Post Mount fitting and IS fitting

Post mount will not have holes that you can see through and will be threaded and go INTO the fork.

Yup very powerfull and brill brakes. If you wanted a little more power get a front 185mm rotor and adaptor [:D]

Mmmmm... probably go for 160 f&r for now and spend œ20 on a 185 front disc later.

as i said i have them and i am not small well big boned, old and like the pies and beer, 99kg and on the xc 160 160 is fine.

Merlin reckon 160's are adaquate for most as they're so powerful. You can always buy a 180 for the front and rear say if you decide to go off Alpine riding.

180 puros f+r here, got a 220 cheap which i have not tried yet, theres plenty of power already
