measure it.
come on give me a clue. what is the problem?
do you have a ruler/tape measure.
the distance you want is the distance between the two bolts?
or the stroke?
bike? year? shock? and i could most likely find out via google.

the problem is lack of experience in shock knowledge, i wasnt aware that by measuring a fitted shock would give me the correct size for a replacement/upgrade shock. i thought the shock would of been slightly compressed when fitted..thankyou0

it only sags when you sit on it. off the bike the shock should be fully extended i would have thought? when you buy a shock it is uncompressed, so thats what you need to measure on your bike.

if the rear wheel is off the ground then there is no chance. also most springs coil or air run with preload causing most bikes to have shock lengths to be the same when fitted or free.
again what seems simple to us is not always clear to someone else so a question that was better worded could have been better.
it is very had to judge someones competance via the written word.
welcome and enjoy.
