flying snakes vs Avid Flack jacket

As above really, I'm assuming that Flying snakes are completly sealed from shifter to derailleur like the Avids are?!

The snakes are totally sealed from shifter to mech.

The Flying Snakes are sealed from shifter to mech - but they don't have the full outer like the flak jackets. They have a thin middle layer which runs the full length, protecting the cable and IMHO making them shift a little smoother and easier than the flak jackets.

Yep, but that comes with the Flying Snakes - you just don't get enough to run a full length outer.

I have flying snakes on my bike after having a headache sorting my shifting out, my bike was only 3 months old and the cables that came with it were pretty manky. The flying snakes are sealed and the shifting feels so much smoother. And they look good. They are well worth œ17...a relativley cheap upgrade!

Have used both and prefer the Flying snakes.

Only problem with them as has been mentioned above is if the bike allows for a full outer from shifter to mech you aint got enough outer, but then if it does do you really need the fancy cable in the first place

You dont need to run fully shielded with flying snakes. there's enough liner to keep the cables sealed and not affect shifting.

I found the one weakness with them. I kinked the 1" of exposed wire between the barrel adjuster on the rear mech and the attaching bolt. Shame really as it needed a new cable to stop semi automatic shifting and changing the inner cable is an arse with flying snakes. Not the fault of the flying snakes, could have happened with any cable. Apart from that the flying snakes have been great and look good too.
