I cycled in to work today and encouctered by deepest flood yet, my wheels did at one point dissappear! So i recon i must have been at least 28 inches deep.

Its really weird, the wheels begin to act as fins, the steering becomes hyper sensative, i had to drop to my lowest gear, the road was closed but police didn't try and stop me and the fire brigade just cheered me on (though one of them seemed very worried about my bottom bracket), waterproofs did not good at all... so gutted i didn't have a camera... anyone else brave the deep waters?

I went passed a guy in his broken down van as well and "Arrggh matey" as i passed... Hoping its all still there as i go home...

  • We have lots of local flooding in the area at the moment. Just been for a trot down to the local Costcutter for some supplies, circular route - about 2.5 miles. On the way back I had to wade through one section of road that's closed and it came up to those parts that you would rather it didn't, but hey-ho! I'm a 29" inside leg so I reckon that must have been 30" at deepest point?

  • Me!
ALot of the guys at work laughed at me when I left to gcome home.
"You're gonna get soaked" they shouted.

30 mins later, soaked, after riding through some mad deep flood water, massive grin on me mug, a steaming cuppa in my hands and at home, where were they, 2hrs later? Still on the peasent wagon going home or stuck in a flood with their cars.
It was my turn to laugh.

I didn't have my camera either..... Oh well, at least my bike is clean!

had similar thing on way home, only one flood by an industrial estate, as i passed through a fourth oil slick, a black murky one, not a pretty multicoloured, one, began to wonder how good an idea it was...
