Buying new carrera fury question
I have about 450 quid to spend on a new bike - Can anyone recco any good models to go for? I'm thinking about a 07 carrera fury, I have a mate who works in Halfords so should be able to get it out discount but a bit wary about the SRAM components when the 06 fury had shimano components, so any recco's out there please? thanks

The Fury is an excellent bike @ œ500.00 so if you can get a discount it will be an even better deal, no issues I know of with the SRAM components. Have you also checked out the GT XC series in Halfords, good value specs for the money.

From saracen right, under œ200.00 in the sale, I'd avoid, not the best fork, frame is likley to be heavy and will have budget components.
The XC1 & XC2 are excellent for the money, maybe you could also get discount on these.

X1 looks interesting if a little pricey - X2 looks a better option.. would you rate either of those 2 higher than the carrera fury or kraken - guess its swings and roundabouts0

I'd try both, the XC1 I rate over the Fury but it is more expensive. Give them a try see what feels right, whatever your choice you won't go wrong with either, both worthy of upgrades in the future or fine out of the box.

xc1 is a nice bike

better forks

The Fury is without doubt better, but then at RRP there is œ100 difference so you would expect there to be

Ah well I have previously had a carrera fury 2003 model - which is very light - no disc brakes - quite a good bike for the money but it had shimano deore components. The new 07 Fury has Sram components but my mate at Bikehut mentioned SRAM are substandard compared to shimano. Very tough decision to make. Have to admit I like the look of the 07 fury but now in two minds about the XC1 hohum0
