Peak District - Ladybower route
Might pay a visit to above in next few weeks and wondered if anyone has done this route around Ladybower and what they thought of it?
Any feedback on terrain and difficulty etc would also be welcome. Any links to maps online?
Cheers

I did a route around the Ladybower Reservoir area over Easter. The route was just shy of 30 miles and was from an old copy of What Mountain Bike magazine. I can't find the route map on line but I have a slightly wonky scanned version of it - if you email me through my profile I'll be happy to forward it on to you. It's a really good, if quite long route. Some great climbs and decents. We got a little bit lost coming out of Edale and ended up doing a few extra road miles but, other than that, it was well worth it. I took some pictures which you can check out here: http://davidsphotos.picturebook.org.uk/c1249212_1.html

Nick (and apcmtb, who also requested it), just sent it. Might be an idea to edit your email address out of your post - posting email addresses on forums is a sure way of getting bombarded with junk mail!

Thanks Dave. I have set up tight spam controls on it so should be ok.

Nick, I think your spam controls might be too tight! I've tried sending it from two different email address and I've got delivery failure messages both times!

See you have the Fire XC Pro tyres on your Cove.....how are you getting on with them? Are they a decent all round tyre?

The Fire XC Pro's are definitely one of the best all round tyres. Maybe a bit much for very dry conditions and maybe not quite enough for the muddiest but they'll still do a job. I use them on my local rides, the fast and smooth wooded singletrack of Thetford, and on trips away to places like the Peaks and the Welsh trail centres and they've been fine.
They seem to offer pretty good puncture protection too - I recently spent three days hard riding in Wales (including a trip up and down Snowdon) and only got one puncture the whole time - and that was when I smacked into a big rock and completely taco'd my rim!
I also use the 1.8 version on my XC hardtail too - very good tyre, if a little thin for some people's tastes!

Excellent feedback thanks. I'm just about to upgrade tyres and at moment toss up between these and Conti Explorers

I've never used Conti Explorers but when I knackered my back wheel I borrowed a spare wheel off a mate which had a Conti Vertical Pro on it (which has a similar profile) and it was quite a good tyre. Seemed to roll a bit quicker although it was a bit more skittery over rocky stuff.
