Short ride today

Set out today for what was going to be a good long training ride (30+ XC miles). About 5 miles in I couldn't clip in to my spuds, pulled over to have a look and noticed one of the cleat screws had gone AWOL and the cleat was lob-sided [:(] Quick retreat home was needed.

Anyway, on a plus note I tried some new cleaner (Hope) and it blows the socks off Fenwicks FS-10!! No brushing necessary at all! Not even on the drivetrain! My bike has never been cleaner......

Anyone else go riding today??

Ahh the same happened to me the other day! I had to have my foot at such a stupid angle to clip in, luckily I could just re-ajust it in a bay. I haven't ridden today at all, its tipping it down!

I've seen the hope cleaner, but isn't it darn expensive stuff?

I was going to go out at 7:30am, but when i woke up 1) it was pissing it down and 2) i was still a bit sore from the 45 miles i did on the saturday so just went into sunday mode went back to bed and put the telly on[:D]

Where did you get the Hope stuff from, as i bought some fenwicks and dont dilute it that much and i really dont rate it.

I got it from my LBS but you can get it online here

No dilution needed, comes in a 1l trigger bottle. œ6 well spent!

Weather is not too bad here at the moment. It has been trying to rain as they say [;)]

Well it has been achieving to rain nearly all day here....hoping it clears off later and will go for a little run.

edit: you can get 5 litres for œ18 which works out quite good value.

Went out this morning on a bit of a local loop with a mate from work. Basically around the kelstage area if anyone knows the little village between matlock and chesterfield..

Cleaned the bike after i got back (nice and covered with thick mud) used the mucoff spray i got did the trick nicly. Although im going to get something better next time and reuse the bottle.

I think I have heard that the Mucoff cleaner is not biologically friendly. Supposed to be good though.

I am wondering how everyone raves about Fenwicks tho, i dilute 1/10 spray it on, agitate it with a brush, leave it for a few mins then wash off and when my bike dries its still mucky and streaky. Heres to hoping the **** cleaner is better as i just ordered some from rutland cycles (free p/p).

I've had the same problem with cleats, once I used a disc rotor bolt to fix it and the other time I fell off in front of loads of people when I couldn't clip out. Need some better threadlock I think.

I had a nice ride out today though, quick shakedown after rebuilding the bike. Started raining at the top of the moor though so it was a gritty descent back to the car park. I don't use any of the cleaning agents now, just a sponge and washing up liquid. I do use a chain degreaser though, they are well worth it.

Me and my buddy set out today, freezing cold and wet (both of us in shorts and t-shirts). After a fast start to get warmed up we entered the woods, and it was some of the hardest terrain I have ever covered. Deep mud and bogs everywhere, unavoidable for several miles. Original plan was 20 Miles fast pace, I think we probably did about 12, overcoming 2 punctures and some quicksand type deep-mud.

Anyway a fun day still had regardless of the climate, but I do hope it brightens up soon as I am really ruining some of my clothes.

Went out today with a total group 4 of us.Weather raining but not to hard,but got to say it was a hard slog round epping forest.Just muddy and boggy everywhere and by the time we finished a well deserved cheese & onion roll and a cuppa.Still enjoyed it though with only one mechanical,rear chain broke and a bent rear mech on a whyte full suss.

Yea cheers Dunk. I ended up doing just 9 miles but this was the second time this week I have tried to do this particular ride and both time I have failed miserably! The first time it started raining several hours earlier than the BBC said and I had the wrong tyres on so managed a grand total of 3.5 miles haha [;)] I suppose today was an improvement. Changed my tyres today too especially [:(]

Think I may go for the 5l Jerry can of that cleaner when I run out just for the Jerry can [:)]

BBC weather is really bad i have found, it can be pissing it down outside and its telling me its sunny and vice versa. I usually use the weather channel.

Yeah when I went ouit with the Goldtec crew on thrusday nite I had problems with my shimano 520's on mys scott. Never seem to have any spd problems on my klien. I just couldn't engage the cleats very easily.

Didn't manage to get a ride in today, although I did run 5 miles between the showers (achey).

I went out for a longish ride on Friday though only to have to turn back after 10 miles as the trail I was on became impassable thanks to the recent weather, lets hope the summer turns up soon eh??

Can't wait for the Summer! I had full knobblys on today which makes the 3 mile uphil road slog to the start of my route a right ball-ache! I forgot how noisy they are too!

Just been looking at that hope bike cleaner... have you guys seen the 25ltr drum for 75 quid now thats a bargin! It costs 150 quid for 25 of the 1ltr ones and 90 quid for 5 5ltr bottles.

3 of us went out from Brandon/Thetford around 9am today,a little drizzle but Ok but the last 30 minutes of a 2.5 hour ride chucked it down and became a mud covered slog to the finish!! Still did 20 miles though which ain't bad. Watch out for the wet exposed roots they always catch me out!!!!
