Well,

This is going to be a subjective, personal topic, but i've got a problem and need to find out what's out there!

I have a Tioga saddle which came with my old Claud Butler. And, as out of place as this looks on an œ1000 Kinesis XC build, it happens to be the most comfortable saddle i've owned! So it stayed.

This was until yesterday, when I knocked my bike sideways in a work stand, and one of the stand adjustment levers went straight through the side of my saddle. Boo!

So, I need some thoughts on new saddles. I ride prodomently XC, trails, touring, commuting and trekking, but it also gets used for the odd day at Glentress and such places. Which, belying it's XC build, the bike devoured!

I was thinking about a WTB Rocket V, as that is the closest I have seen to my current saddle. But I was also considering a Brooks (though that could come off for Glentress style adventures!). Weight, comfort and looks are all big considerations, as the bike is satin titanium, with black, LX colours, and Silver of the MX30 Pedals.

A long one, just for a saddle...but any thoughts?!

There was a full review of saddles in this months WMB, may be useful.

Would be good if you could find someone with the two saddles you fancy and try them out. I have the Rocket V on my hardtail and think it is a pretty good saddle - does the job nicely.

I am on my 2nd WTB Rocket V, I have one on my H/T (std version) and a new one on my Susser (Stealth version with Ti rails, leather & only 220g [:D])

They seem to fit my butt fine, a lot of folks love the SDG Bel Air, I can't get on with them (hence the 2 WTB Rockets!)

As daveb says, see what saddles your mates are using, try 'em & and see if you like any of those.

I have SDG Bel Air, and can confirm (for me) it is very comfy, and come in several colour schemes.

I have a fizik gobi which is really nice on my hardtail but wasn't that comfy on my ful susser on the last ride [:o]

Put duck tape over the hole in your saddle? I had similar trouble trying to replace an old bontager saddle so i just taped it up and kept using it. If you really like your old saddle it may be worth sending a photo to tioga and seeing if they still make it.

I use one of them on my FS - excellent saddle, prefered it to the Fizik Gobi but that is my choice, I know others much prefer the Fizik

I've got a Fizik Gobi - excellent for moving about the bike but still not sure about comfort. I'd probably try a Bel Air next time..

Saddle choice is definitely a personal choice. I really don't get on with SDG or WTB saddles.

For my sit bones, i get on with the less is more type saddles (Gobi, Flite, SLR etc.).

I have recently got a Bel-air for the Trek because it was on offer. You know what? I actually preferred the original Bonty saddle and find the Bel air can give me numb nuts on long climbs! I reckon a Fizik Gobi would suit me better.

Just like grips - a very personal thing.

Ha, I would, but everyone else I know has either a Dirt Jump bike, or a stock unbranded saddle. Annoying!

I think i'll try Tioga to see what arises from trying to get hold of a replacement.

I've tried a couple of Kona's with different WTB saddles on, but as they're all factory fresh, they're dead hard! Cheers for the suggestions guys, I think i'm gonna hunt down the ones suggested and give them all a go if poss. If all else fails, i'm going for bling with a Brooks...preferably in brown to match my Frame's opinion - dividing satin titanium colour!
