left work 9 oclock Thursday night, put my helmet on and set off for home. 200 yards down the road a very slow moving car right in the middle of road is blocking me so I move to overtake. Just as I draw level he sees a parking space, turns sharp left blocking my path, I have no alternative but to jam on the brakes, flinging myself over the bars, cleared his bonnett and landed directly on my head with a loud bang. As i lie there soaking it up hes asking me if Im alright and thanks to my helmet I mainly am. I have a rather sore and stiff neck but other than that a few light scratches, as I took most of the impact directly on the top of my head. The moral off the story, ALWAYS wear your helmet, even if just nipping to the shops or whatever. This happened 200 yards from my work and i may be dead or expecting to eat thru a straw for the rest of my days, you just dont know when these things are going to happen. New helmet required, and I only bought this a few weeks ago, but thats a small price to pay.
