But I like baby ducks more, they look like me when I bleach my hair [:D]

And regarding birds (I mean the flying ones), I also encoutered suicidal pigeons! The bastards are so used to people now that they don't even move away when you ride your bike, I could have squished a pigeon four times now, they just keep going under your front wheel... [}:)]

To clip or not to clip, that is the question. Couldn't agree more, I was out the other weekend on an old railwayline and followed a young fox (4 legged variety!!) for about 1/2 a mile, nice.

I was coming through the local park the other day and a squirell ran straight in front of me. It was nearly one dead squirell, and gave me the fright og my life.

It is good though, what sort of nature you can spot whilst out riding.

Nice pic. I have become a wildlife nut since I started cycling again and there is loads to be seen around my area, Deer, Rabbits, Pheasants(scare the crap out of me because they are usually hidden in bushes and the jump out as I ride past), Herons, Curlews, Muscovy Duck!!! Allsorts.

I agree, that's one beautiful thing about being out on the bike; you get to see elements of nature at their finest [:)]
When we went to Kielder a few weeks back I saw a red squirrel dart across the path in front of me and race up a tree, it was amazing - the first time I've ever seen a red squirrel in the "wild".

Last year we were doing a training run on the canal and a kingfisher was flying down the canal about 5 feet in front of us , we followed it for about half a mile before it stopped for a rest , it was the first time I'd seen one in the wild I didn't realise quite how vibrant their colours were.

Got to the top of the Dragons Back at Coed y Brenin today and there were 2 deer roming around, and you wont see that in the gym.

my other half was ridding FTD and a stag just stepped out into the trail straight in front of her, she seriously sh@t herself so funny!!

Dont get that at the gym!!

Just back from my hols where I saw the following while out on my bike:

1 beaver, swimming with a small branch with fresh leaves
2 skunks
some raccoons
Beluga whales
sea lions
some very unusual birds (black, with bold red wings, barely visible except in flight)
banana slug, about 6" long!
swallows' nest, with chicks being fed by parents!!
terrapins
various ducks and geese, some with chicks.

Can't wait to get back out there!
