Hello all, after a bit of advice.

I'm doing the BHF Randonee 65 miles next weekend, and although pretty much ready to go, havw a couple of questions hopefully you good people can help with.

by way of introduction; i ride regularly with 5 or 6 other guys mostly across Cranborne Chase in Dorset, and out from Christchurch around the SW New Forest. our rides always tend to be flat out 25 miles (average 13-14mph) with 80% odd off road, so fitness wise I'm fine. My bike and kit is all fine, no worries there either.

My main concerns are a) food/drink/nutrition: I normally ride in the evenings, so prepare with a protien/carb filled lunch, then a chocolate binge about an hour before the ride. i only ever have plain water on the ride. the Randonee's early start worries me - what would you advise me to eat/drink before the start, and as my usual rides are 2-3 hours max, i'm not sure about food on the go. would it be a sugar/salt/carb mix? little & often or a blow out half way round? what about re-hydration? i'll planning on plain water, but having read some other posts, am thinking about something isotonic?

b) kit: what's the route like for punctures? is 4 spare tubes OTT?

thanks in anticpation, and look forward to seeing some of you there!
