Hardtail for under œ600
Hey all,
Having just completed a 40+ mile ride for the Bristol Rat Race I have decided it is time to part with my old faithful GT Tequester and replace it with a newer hardtail.
I have a budjet of œ500, but will stretch to no more than œ600 for the right bike with the right componants. I want a good spec hardtail with Hydralic disc brakes. My problem is that I am now very much out of touch with whats out there and how much things have come on. Ideally I want a new bike, but will be happy to get a better value bike by buying last years model.
Any help is gratefully received.

I can't fault my Trek 6000 that I have and comes in at œ550. just my humble opinion, there are loads of good bikes at the mo in that price bracket.

Thanks my best friend rides the 2006 Trek 6700 and it is an amazing bike (massively out of my budget mind)So Treks are on my list as bikes i could ride.
I intend to use the new bike for a variety of things including riding to work, xc and just general larking around. So as long as it is comfortable and able to handle the above im happy. Been looking at Trek, Giant, GT, Specialist etc. Just so many and im so confused.0 -
The Trek is an excellent buy. Youd be best off trying a few out for fit and comfort in a local shop.

Just looking to but the GT Avalanche Expert (predominantly for single track/XC), with a little road riding thrown in. Retails at œ700 but Triton Cycles are selling it at œ600 at the moment. Had a couple of test rides and really thought it was a good ride and nicely specced (especially for œ600).
Eventhough it's at the top of your budget it's well worth a look I think.
Not sure if the link below will work, but check out www.tritoncycles.co.uk
