Its so annoying you buy a new car, and then you get 3 years warrenty but only if the car goes back to the dealership for servicing and then they charge you œ220!!!! for a service!!! ok so its the cars 20,000 mile/2 year service but this is just shocking!!
I know i shouldnt have a new car, but i have had 3 its normally no hassle motoring for the last few years but this is the first time ive paid for servicing, i normally end up with a free service, but this time ive had to pay. I checked with a mate who runs his own garage and the service parts for my car cost about œ70 and he would charge another œ25 for the time as he could do it in an hour so why is the dealership charging so much!!
The next sevice isnt too bad as the warrenty isup so i can get a mate to do it but i cant justify this expense i mean thats a new xtr rear mech and pods!!
ride it hard and keep it fun!!!

I thought the dealers weren't allowed to insist on dealer servicing anymore. I know my company car just goes into one of these fleet management places for servicing.0

You can service your car at any garage that is VAT registered and uses genuine parts in order to keep your warrenty.
Main dealers just dont tell you that.

Dealerships charge in the region of œ90 - œ100 per hour in labour and more for the parts, and probably take longer as they inspect more than a local garage would, which is why your mate can do it much cheeper[:(!]

I bought my car from a Seat Dealer about 25 miles from where I live, I knew that any VAT reg. garage could do the work so long as they used original Seat parts, just to be safe I rang the dealers and they confirmed this.
I use my local independent VAG garage as it's a hell of a lot nearer & a lot cheaper - œ35p/h labour costs!

It all depends on the terms of the warranty.
Quite a few of the manufacturers only give one year warranty, and the further two years are provided by the dealer network. And as the dealers aren't covered by the block exemption rules, they can still force you to get the car serviced at a dealer.
