Hanger Banger

Anybody has this thingy?
What usually happens if your mech accidentally catches something on the trail? What has more chance to get bent, the mech or the hanger? I'd say the hanger because more leverage acts on it.
If you had a hanger banger, my reasoning is it would protect the hanger, and the mech would bite the dust. So I think the thing is good to protect frames with fixed hangers, but bad for those with replacable hangers because the hanger is cheaper than the mech... right?
To clip or not to clip, that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind of men to suffer the dings and contusions of unclipp'd riding, or to bind thy feet against a sea of gnarly singletrack and by these contraptions, ride o'er them with ease. To clip... to slip no more, and by clipping to end the buttache and the thousand natural shocks that ryders are heir to; tis a consummation devoutly to be honed. No clip - to slip perchance to be thrashed most heinously...

hanger bangers are great for shore style riding as you snap mech hangers all the time on skinnys whilst learning .i have never snapped a mech ever.

it sandwiches the hanger and mech strengthening the whole lot along with the skewer.

Dropping your bike from beams or onto beams.
Will still damage either the mech cage or the mech hanger though.

it's less likely though luke.
the banger hanger acts as a end on the QR, so it also increases the distance from the mech / hanger and lowers the leverage but IF you have a bad smack you will bend the frame not just the mech hanger..

Is doesn't change how the mech CAGE is protected at all though fozzy. Which is why i don't really see the point in it.
Granted its stiffening up the interface between mech and mech hanger. But i've never seen that as an issue.

it does luke...
the mech is pinned from the ouside using a thread locked bolt.
this is the bolt that secures the Mech to the replaceable hanger. when you break the mech hanger bolt you leaver the bolt off the hanger, the banger hanger goes on the outside of the mech hanger bolt and prevents this leverage.
feck i have one and i say it's not worth it, i was kind enough to be given it by andy B and it's saved my mech once taking a huge hit from a cut off tree, i clipped the mech on the stump but it actually clipped the banger hanger and took a HUGE chunk out the stump...

both the hanger replaces the QR end, a bolt goes into the mech hanger hole and the whole lot clamps together.
