Hey Guys

Forward scanning my new fork purchase and am wondering why rebas with poloc are so much more money, and how much the race differes from the SL (it seems to be the poploc or am i wrong)

What is the poploc?! is it just the remote and all the other features are the same except you have to reach down to the the crown to adjust?

Many thanks

Dave

  • poplock is just a lever.

the compresuion (motion control or whatever it is called is different. the poplocks works with the spring loaded versions while the non poplock one is friction. do both have flood gates? (internal and external are the same).

    RS's site expalins it best.

Poplic is a cable operated bar mounted lever that lock out the fork movement, without poploc this can still be done by a knob down on the fork.

SL has internal motion control, which needs an allen key to adjust (varies the amount of force to over ride the lock out)

Race is the same as the SL but with external motion control, which is a knob on the fork.

Team is the same as the race but with a slightly lighter crown (a whopping 27g)

Poploc is available as an option on all models and costs about œ30.

I'd get the SL with poploc from Merlin, cos its cheap, unless you feel you'll be changing the motion control alot.

Yep merlin have the allen key SL one with the poploc lever for œ225. I've got the Team on my new bike and can't see me altering the motion control much, if ever. Which is why i'd get the SL if i was to choose.

try reading the manual. rebound adjust and you can pulit out and use it to addjust the FLOODGATE if you have the internal floodgate. Again read the manual. if you dont have one visit RS's webby and down load the correct one for the fork and year.

  • OK Nicklouse, I think I've got the message.
  • .... not much help though.

    Cheers.
  • I have the 80mm Reba SL and I love it. The floodgate is set up according to your weight, so you only need the external one if lots of people are using the bike.

I do struggle sometimes to work out if I've got the best rebound setting, it's a bit of a black art, but seems to be best for me 1.1/2 turns from fast. I tend to run the +ve pressure as recommended and the -ve a little higher.

Don't forget to budget for a decent shock pump.

The really great thing about these forks is they are so light !!

  • PS - oh yes - the lockout is really quick and easy to use even without the poploc, just a quick flick of the finger.
