Guys,

I have a Carrera Kracken that i brought without any understanding of bikes and on the advise of Halfords ( i know i know stupid me )

Well because of above i really dont have much cash to splash on the new banshee x for example. My question is pure and simply, would an old Banshee say around 2004 age be ok, i know in time i would need to uprate forks to some Bombers or something, but would it survice and be better than my 2007 Kracken.

I will not be offended as i know i have little knowledge in this area, which is why i have come to ask the experts, even though the horse has kind of already bolted :)

To be honest it will probably be a worse bike than the kraken you already have, partly cos the parts will be old, and partly cos it'll be at least 4-5 lbs heavier.

  • as a beginners bike the kraken is pretty good( well i would say that as i have one) and its easy to learn skills on hardtails like these. a cheap full suss like the banshee especially at that age will be heavy and not very effective.

I would personally be updating the fork on the Kraken, as others have said the banshee will be heavier and being an 2004 would have dated in three years spec wise, therefore money would be better spent upgrading the HT with the latest gear
