Im in the market for some new lights for the 24/12,I cant justify spending alot on them though. Has anyone bodged up a set of lights them selves, Ive seem some small high powered torches with a good burn time and seem like a good option if I can mount them for a fraction of the price of dedicated bike lights with a similar power/burn time.

Less than 100, not alot I know but Ive spent a fortune already on the bike,camping gear.etc.0

This is a great entry level set, powerful, reasonably light with a good battery:

But even though it has a decent run time for 10w, at a 24hr event it wont get you through.

I was considering the BLT firewire as it uses AA batteries. But Ive been looking at Finex torches which out perform them I would just need to mount them have a look at GlowGadgets.com.0

Depends how much light you need. LED are more efficient for a given output, but still usually limited with replacable batteries, but on a ride like this you need to have power reserves.
