Do i [bike] care too much?
Basically due to being slightly OCD i cannot go out on a ride and leave my bike in the garage covered in mud, so always clean it down with fenwicks, relube and thats that.
Thing is i ride about 4+ times a week and worried i will end up a) spending a fortune on oils, lubes, grease etc and b) probably wear the paint down on my frame[;)].
So i was just wondering if i am going overboard and should just clean it once a week or whether to just keep doing what i am doing while i am in the habit?

I used to be the same, and it ended up that I started to consider NOT going out on the bike because I couldn't be ar5ed with all the cleaning and stuff afterwards. That's now changed, and I'll make sure the bike gets a clean once a week if it's been used a fair bit. The one thing I do still do after most rides is clean the chain and re-lube (unless it was very dry and a relatively short spin).

Just a wipe down and a relube after a dry ride, full wash after a muddy one. For a wipe down you just need water and a rag

I only clean my mtb about once a month in the dry summer! But I do care alot for it...I won't even ride off a curb, yet I will take it off drops..strange I know! Just make sure that after its been washed with water, you try and dry as much as possible.

I usually re gild the decals after every ride. So you not quite obsessed yet. When you store them in your room, and bounce the forks on the way to the bog everytime you pass, you are obsessed.

Honestly can't remember the last time I washed the inbred, just knock the dry mud off every now and then.

Depends how much mud/grit is stuck to your bike, my general rule of thumb is a full clean once a week during winter (extra if really muddy) and in summer just clean the drivetrain once a week and the rest once a month.
