Yup, I've been asked to be the Best Man at my friends wedding!

Has anyone else had the honour of being a Best Man?

I can refrain from swearing for a few minutes, I have to when I visit the folks, Mum hates swearing, my Dad...well where do you think I get it from. LOL!

I'm gonna have a few glasses of Champers before my speech, but not too many, I can embarrass myself without booze easily enough!

i drank 2 bottles of champers before one of my speeches the owners wife came up to me with sad tears in her eyes and said it was one of the most wonderful things she'd heard in years...

i couldn't remember a thing!!!

That's impossible, you can't get drunk when you are best man, it's a basic rule of physics. You will drink gallons and be as sober as a judge until the point straight after you finish your speech, then you will be as pi55ed as a fart and make a complete ass of yourself for the rest of the night.

The last time I was best man, I got hold of a pile of pictures of the groom in embarrassing poses from early childhood onwards. His new bride found this highly amusing when I had these blown up to about A1 size and used them in my speech to generally take the pi55. That was until I put the last one up showing her with an accidental booby out when she was about 17 years old.

Anyway, this is always a great technique to take the heat off you for a while and just provides a few seconds of relief if you do find yourself struggling under the pressure.

Oh, and don't forget the traditional stuff, such as reading cards - then pull out a pack of playing cards and start to call out seven of clubs, king of hearts etc etc (the oldies love that one)

Also start by saying "errm, thank ya all for comin" "errm hope you have a good time" errm"

Its tradition okay.

I will be asking his friends for embarrassing photo's, but with Dan there will be no shortage of those, a couple of Xmas eve's ago he was seen parading around the town wearing a pink feather boa that he'd borrowed from one of the girls out with us!

So, in summary, **** is very special, unique, a true one off, after they made him, the broke the mould, they had to it was crap

I've never seen anyone with such dtermination and perseverance, he will keep on going even when the odd are heavily stacked against him and all seems lost, if you need evidence of this, just whatch him in front of the mirror in the mornings.

Yeah - I've done it to 250 people. I really enjoyed it - but I'm used to speaking to an audience. It was a great buzz and nice to get compliments afterwards.

If you have a series of funny/daft/relevant pics of the groom through childhood and into adulthood they can provide a great 'storyboard'. Get them printed nice 'n' big though and get someone else to hold them up.

Remember to compliment the bride (sincerely [;)])

And don't let your mouth go too potty!

Done it once. The biggest thing I say to you is
Don't forget the ring[:I]

At least we had only gone 50m in the car before I remembered.
Also a quick pint before hand should be kept in check by someone sober who has a working watch[:I][:I]
