Scotchbrite and cutting paste.
Start of with a reasonably rough grade with the cutting paste, then go finer and finer. For the final few goes, mix up the cutting paste with water until it's quite diluted.
Mine came up a treat........i'll look for photos.<font color="blue">Roadie</font id="blue">

I can't find any pics on my memory stick, but they ended up on my single speed looking like this (but shinier). I had a nice Boone Ring too. Now regretably sold. I don't know what i was thinking!

A coule of years ago I took the black finish of some M/cycle levers (cant say brake levers, cos one is the clutch)using Mr.Muscle oven cleaner. It takes a while but it does a stonking job.

I know a boy who did this to his 2006 xtrs.Just used wire pad and then finer and finer paper. Worked well enough.Im thinking of doing it to my 2007's.0
