Help with Tyres Please

I am currently running Maxxis Rancheros which are fine but I can't help thinking there is something more suited to my riding. I will be using my bike for roads but it does not matter how good they are on road, I am looking for XC performance. I mainly ride the Bridleways near me so basically loose rocks and lot's of them. Never come across a root as of yet and there are not many mud sections I can think of it's just mainly rocks!
Do you think there is anything better for me than what I am currently running?
Thanks [:)]

please....anyone???
My Rancheros took a good chunk off my time but it can be like riding on ice when it comes to some of the very loose rocky sections. Is it just a necessary sacrifice for speed?
Cheers

These are superb as a combo and highly recommended from my own experience, the only thing they've felt sketchy on is wet roots and thick mud.
