hi all!!
im selling my car to upgrade my bike ! (cars are smelly)[xx(]
i'm thinking either rock shox reba wc or pace RC39 C-Type (or maybe something else?)
im mainly on the road but i like to go over bumps n things once in a while, so prefer suspension to save my wrists and go for longer smoother rides.
i have at the moment (laughs) a sync exell which weighs 1/4 ton,and bends as i put the power down, so the rim brakes rub,
i like to break very hard and go round corners very fast.(its my main hobby)..but dont jump off anything higher than a kerb.
can anyone help me decide on a nice fork that might last 10 years or more?[8)]
many thanks
peace + happy riding:)

10 years or morwe I cannot promise, especially if you buy a Pace...
RS Reba WC IMHO is a classic case of diminishing returns. 250 quid for the fork and an extra 300 to drop a few more grams. It is the best, but at a price. Is it an XC fork that you want?

Fox 32 F100 RLC or RS Reba Team....nuff said.
I wouldn't bother with the World Cup.

Never had you down as a Pace basher Sonic? Reliability issues should be a thing of the past, as they are now made by DT Swiss.
Strange, that when you have a look around sites like Retrobike, there seems to be lots of old Pace forks going strong. My old RC35's are still plodding on, on my old bike (now ridden by a mate).Roadie

Hehe, twas a bit of a joke for Fozzy! They seem to have some batches which go abit awry, but as you say the new QC should be better.

You muppets they are just "the emperors new clothes" and you've all been conned! Pace still are pace forks.. no DTSwiss involvement yet apart from the labling / marketing / graphics.. you need to wait till next year for paces iMPROVED offerings..
Get RS or some Marz forks..

You need a œ500 fork for road? a œ150 Tora/MX pro will do the trick and perform well offroad too...

œ500 would buy a decent hardtail WITH a perfectly usable fork.

Reba SL from Merlins is around œ220 with poploc. It isnt the lightest, but imo is as good as Foxes and quite stiff. Rockshox are well known for reliability aswell.
Save the other œ270 for other stuff.

Personally, for an MTB for the road, I'd buy Pace or Bontrager rigid carbons for œ180. Or do what we did with Mrs Splashers bike and put a carbon cyclocross fork on with 700c wheels - it's a flying machine on the road and still fine for towpaths, resevoirs and farmtracks.

Your's wouldn't look as mad unless you also ride a 13" frame.

Sorry but i just couldn't justify œ500 for a fork for road use, as most of the others said, you could get a nice set of forks for half that or even a different bike for that money.

If its something light, purely for road use and a bit of comfort, check ebay out for an old INDY SL by Rockshox.
