TBH, I don't care what it costs. Like Thomas said, I paid about œ50 for it... 60g weight saving over XT... so add that to the 200g I've just saved on my cranks, the 40g I've saved on my chain etc... it's adding up.

I put an XT M970 11-32 on my winter bike yesterday and I weighed the lock ring. 12.9 GRAMS!!!! I couldn't believe it! That is seriously heavy. My Chris King Lockring only weighs 4 grams (alu) and according to weight weenies the XTR lcok ring weighs 4 grams aswell.

Anyway my point is that the weight savings between XT and XTR is nearer 50 grams because of the lock ring. You can buy an alu lock ring for œ6 and it's not going to wear out like a cassette. Thats my logic anyhow! When my XT cassette wears out on my summer bike that will be getting replaced by XTR.

For anyone who is interested, the cassette including lock ring came in at 259.7 grams which I was quite happy as it was a little bit less than expected.

Certainly not pushing it anywhere around here... besides, I ride with quite a few guys on singlespeeds who don't have anywhere as near a luxury like a 22/27 gear.
