Anyone living in driving distance from Moulsford, Oxfordshire could do a lot worse than support this LBS:

The LBS's closest to me just haven't got the time of day to bother with anything other than selling you stuff, and look at you gone out if you try and ask a question on maintenance/repairs.
TJ just admitted they were too busy to fit my wheels in for truing, but said I could go down there and use their workshop to see if I could do it myself. Been down there for a couple of hours, had a tea made for me, and they stopped to have a look at what I was doing from time to time to offer hints/tips.
Whilst I can't guarantee you'll necessarily get the same treatment, I felt compelled to share my story. Oh, and this was the middle of the day on a weekday. I don't suppose there'd be the same enthusiasm if it were a Saturday!!Other LBS's...take note.
(PS - Wheels are now pretty good actually!)

Halfords wont let you do it. Health and safety. Which given the way they build the things is rather ironic.

Yep Moulsford is pretty close to me, I'm in Didcot SADLY [:(]
But yeah they're a nice lot! Rides on Air in Wallingford isn't bad either nor is behindbarsbikes in Abingdon tho it is a bit pricey!

Sounds like you've found a gem there! Places like that are very rare indeed, which is a shame.
My local shop, Evolution Cycles in Eastbourne is like that. I love going in there even though I get a lot of stuff through work there's a load of parts that I just can't get (Aireal hubs, wheelbuilds, frames, Pace forks) so I still go there a lot!

The proper workshop experience was great. I quite like the sense of achievement having completed a task and not had to just give it to the LBS to fix my poor attempt!
